Long Sutton County Primary School is excited to be recruiting a talented and motivated individual to join us as an Assistant Head, SENCo and SEMH Lead.

Job title: Assistant Head with responsibility for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENCO) & SEMH Lead

Salary: Leadership Pay Scale (1-5)

Hours: 0.8 (Possibility of a further 0.2 Senco day across the Trust, at MPS or UPS)

Contract type: Permanent

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, highly competent, engaging individual who has the drive and enthusiasm to help take our school forward further. The role requires the Assistant Head to take on the role of SENCo, to lead on SEMH across the school and lead the pastoral team. This part of the role is for three days a week. There is also a commitment to some regular cover of classes for either one or two days a week. We are keen to find the right person for our wonderful school and are open to discussions regarding the role and how it could be shaped to ensure we get that person who has a passion for making a difference!

The successful candidate will be someone who:

  • Is a qualified teacher with a record of good or better practice

  • Demonstrates initiative and strategic thinking
  • Shows excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Is hardworking and highly motivated, with a strong team spirit
  • Already holds the National SENCo Award or would be prepared to undertake the Award
  • Has an excellent understanding of the SEN Code of Practice and its related processes.
  • Can lead by example in your manner and delivery of targeted support and interventions.
  • Is confident in providing support by advising and guiding staff to ensure children successfully make the next steps in their learning.
  • Is passionate about providing high quality SEND education and provision across the school
  • Has a passion for SEMH and understands the importance of this aspect of child development
