An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional and ambitious leader to join Washwood Heath Academy’s Senior Leadership team. We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, inspirational, and forward-thinking Assistant Head to join Washwood Heath Academy and deliver a strategic lead for improving progress and outcomes for all pupils.

This summer, the Academy achieved some of its best results:

  • Post 16: Average Level 3 BTEC = Distinction

This is a fantastic leadership opportunity for a committed and talented leader to join the Washwood Heath Leadership team. We are looking for an individual who can confidently establish and develop excellent relationships with all stakeholders. The successful candidate needs to be highly effective and an inspirational teacher and leader, with strong behaviour management and experience of leading highly successful teams at a secondary level. We expect all of our pupils to be challenged, to be inspired and to achieve beyond expectation.

The focus of this role is improving pupils’ progress and outcomes, working with senior leaders, and middle leaders:

  • To develop, lead and promote an ethos of ensuring excellence in all areas of the school’s life
  • To provide strong leadership and management of the school’s assessment, recording and reporting
  • To provide leadership and management of data, exams and progress across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 to ensure pupils make strong progress
  • To contribute to the operational and strategic leadership of our school as part of our Senior Leadership Team
  • Ensure that our values are put into practice, and we make significant progress across the Academy
  • To raise levels of achievement and standards through highly effective leadership and supporting management of the Academy’s quality assurance programme
  • To ensure there is a culture of encouragement and support across the school

Applicants for this role should be passionate advocates for excellent pupil progress and developing a positive climate for learning and social interaction around the Academy. We are looking for a self-motivated and exceptionally well-organized leader to play a critical and prominent role across the Academy.

Finally, we are looking for an inspirational leader who has a natural presence and will be a role-model to pupils, staff and the wider community. This role would be equally suited to someone who is seeking their first senior leader role or a current Assistant Head looking for a new challenge. Regardless of professional ambition, it is critical that the successful candidate will be fully committed to ensuring that pupil progress at Washwood Heath is exceptional for all children.

At WHMAT, we want to proactively embrace diversity across our workforce and recognise that we are under-represented at senior leader levels in terms of ethnic minority groups. We’re therefore taking positive steps to promote a diverse and inclusive culture; we welcome applications from those that identify with these groups to better represent our young people.

Washwood Heath Multi Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS check is required for all successful applicants.
