What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking to recruit a resilient Assistant Headteacher who wants to be part of our journey of continuous growth and improvement.
Our Assistant Headteacher will share in the leadership and corporate responsibility of Hamilton School, whilst also providing a high-quality education to our students, professional development to our wonderful staff and continuous improvement school wide.
The successful candidate will be:
- Experienced in working with students with special needs, including but not exclusive to Autism and social, emotional and mental health difficulties
- Committed to raising the opportunities and progression of our learners and support them in all aspects of their learning
- Experienced in bringing about significant improvements for children and young people in an educational setting
In January 2020 Hamilton School joined the
Maiden Erlegh Trust family of schools, whose motto is “schools for the community, schools as a community”.

and having a core of common policies and procedures, will serve its own

What the school offers its staff
Hamilton School is an SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Special School in Reading educating up to 64 students with Education, Health Care Plans (EHCP).Our mission is to recognise each and every one of our students as individuals, and to nurture their potential, developing the whole child through a therapeutic approach. This means that you would have to be a resilient character who is able to remain positive when dealing with challenging behaviour. The school is proud to have recently opened its doors to a state-of-the-art building with wonderful new facilities for both pupils and staff.

For our teaching team we offer a flexible CPD programme which staff can tailor to their own needs which includes coaching and training for new entrants to the profession and to support career returners.
