Assistant Headteacher and SENCO job summary

At Farnborough Grange we have a vibrant curriculum and strong school values - We Respect, We Aspire, We Belong. We are a passionate team who are dedicated to giving our children the tools and experiences that they need to achieve whatever they want in life. We are looking for someone to join our team and share this opportunity with us. If you are interested in the chance to support and guide children through the early stages of their education, please contact the school to speak to us about the role in more detail.

Do you value every child and understand how to provide them with the best education?

Are you an enthusiastic go-getter with a passion for teaching and learning?

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the SEN provision at Farnborough Grange Nursery and Infant School. The role will include a 0.5 FTE teaching commitment.

As part of the Senior Leadership Team you will play an integral part in determining the strategic development of the SEN provision and policy in the school. You will provide professional guidance to colleagues, working closely with staff, parents and other agencies. The school also has a specialist Early Years Static Hub for a limited number of children with significant/complex needs, as identified by Hampshire SEND department, in our Nursery Class and you will work alongside the SEND teacher, to ensure the highest quality provision.

The Good Shepherd Trust currently comprises 23 schools and our vision is "Be better, together, to ensure an ambitious education for every child in every school every day" so we work collaboratively as much as possible. Our hub structure provides further opportunities for collaborative working within the local area. We are committed to supporting professional development for all our staff and provide a range of employee benefits which help make us an employer of choice. Applicants with SEND experience but without the SENCO qualification are very welcome to apply. The successful candidate will be supported to achieve the new NPQ for SEND accreditation.

We would love to hear from interested candidates and please do call the school to arrange an informal visit to find out more.

The GST is a multi-academy trust serving 23 schools within the Diocese of Guildford across Surrey and Hampshire. Our trust comprises both primary and secondary schools, schools affiliated to the Church of England and others who are not. Our purpose is to grow and maintain a strong network of schools within a highly supportive and sharing network: we know that schools are better when they work together sharing common values and goals. Opportunities for staff development are a key priority for us - as a member of support staff, as a teacher, as a head teacher or as a local committee member you will have access to wide and varied professional development.

We are working hard to become a more diverse organisation – which is key to our commitment “to be better, together”. We welcome applications from everyone committed to this ethos and would particularly welcome applications from black and minority ethnic candidates, who are currently under-represented in the Group as a whole. We always appoint on merit. We are always open to discussing flexible working options.

Please note that we reserve the right to interview on application should a suitable candidate apply and we have the right to withdraw this advert prior to the closing date. You are therefore strongly encouraged to apply for the role as soon as possible.

Commitment to safeguarding

The Good Shepherd Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We ensure that all our recruitment and employment practices reflect this commitment.

The safety and wellbeing of every child in the care of Farnborough Grange Nursery and Infant School is our absolute priority. We expect all of our staff, pupils, parents, local committee members, Trustee Directors, visitors, contractors and third party professionals to share this view. The safeguarding and protection of children is everyone’s responsibility.

On behalf of the Trust, local governing committee and staff team, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to Farnborough Grange Nursery / Infant School, where we are committed to giving children the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to succeed in later life.

We are a Church of England affiliated academy based in North Hampshire, part of The Good Shepherd Trust family, for children from 4 to 7 years old.. We also have a nursery which welcomes children from 2 years old.

At the heart of everything that we do are the children. The years they spend with us are an extremely precious time of enormous growth and change. We seek to make every opportunity a learning experience and harness the value out of every moment of every day. You will see from much of the content of this website, how central the children are and what fantastic ambassadors they are for the younger generation. As a school community, we are proud to provide a happy, positive environment where the children have the aspiration and self-belief to achieve their goals, whatever they may be.

Although learning is our core purpose, so is friendship, challenge, exploration and collaboration. It is our role to ensure that every child who passes through our school, has the nursery and infant school experience that they richly deserve.

We know that every child has the capacity for success and we have tailored our enquiry-based curriculum to enable our children to learn about the world around them, trying a wide variety of experiences and discovering and succeeding in their own talents and passions.

This website aims to give you a taste of the school, as well as providing regularly updated information for both pupils and parents. You can view our virtual school tour here.

We hope that you enjoy your visit to our website and that you get a taste of our whole-school ethos. If you would like to see the school in session, or if you have any queries, please contact the school office.

Thank you for visiting!
