Assistant Headteacher (Behaviour and Safeguarding)
Kingsbury Green Academy

Salary: Leadership Spine 12-16, £58,105-£64,225 (DOE)
Type of role:
Permanent, full-time
Start Date: Monday 1st January 2024

About this Role

We are looking to appoint a dynamic, innovative and forward-thinking Assistant Headteacher to join the Senior Leadership Team at Kingsbury Green Academy.

Kingsbury Green Academy, which is part of the successful Ascend Learning Trust, opened its doors for the first time on the 5th of September 2019.   In April 2022, Ofsted judged Kingsbury Green Academy as ‘Good’ in every inspection category.  We are ambitious to build on this judgement by being recognised as an ‘Outstanding’ school in every sense of the word.

This role is being advertised following the successful promotion of the previous incumbent to Deputy Headteacher at another school.  Due to the late nature of that appointment, in Term 5 of last year, we have had to delay advertising for this position, hence the January start.

The purpose of this role is to lead on the continuing development of high standard behaviour across the school and to develop a culture for learning in its broadest sense.  In addition, the successful candidate will lead a strong team of safeguarding professionals, undertaking the overall responsibilities of a DSL.  You do not currently need to be a DSL but must be committed to completing the training required to fulfil that role.

Whatever your experiences to date, you must demonstrate how you have had an impact on the lives of young people e.g., through improving behaviour, raising academic performance or through strategic leadership in another form.  Most important of all is that you have the kind of positive mindset that believes anything is possible and that you are:

  • an outstanding classroom practitioner
  • effective and innovative leader with up-to-date knowledge of behavioural pedagogy and raising standard
  • passionate about inclusive education, notably pupils supported by the Pupil Premium and those pupils with SEND
  • committed to a culture of safeguarding where all pupils can achieve their full potential
  • energetic, enthusiastic and full of new ideas
  • ambitious and keen to play a significant role in the future development of Kingsbury Green Academy
  • supportive of the development of the Trust and ready to contribute to the wider Trust leadership.

Why Choose us?

Kingsbury Green Academy were judged as ‘Good’ by Ofsted in every category when inspected in April 2022 and we are proud to be a part of the successful Ascend Learning Trust.

What we offer:

  • The opportunity of working within a supportive, friendly, and well-run school.
  • The Trusts commitment to staff wellbeing including generous calendar dates and INSET days.
  • A strong commitment to your professional development and career management.
  • Excellent CPD opportunities to grow and development through mentorship and coaching.
  • Reward and recognition, celebrating staff success.
  • Leadership development opportunities both internally and across other schools in the Trust.
  • A successful ECT support program.
  • Onsite parking.
  • Pension Scheme.
  • Courteous and hardworking pupils.
  • Benefits for discounts via an online staff portal.

If you have any further questions or would like to arrange a visit to the school, please contact dtillyer@kga.ascendlearningtrust.org.uk  for further information.
