Appointment Date: January 2024
We are looking to appoint a dynamic, innovative and forward-thinking
Assistant Headteacher to join the Senior Leadership Team at The Wellington
Academy.
The Wellington
Academy which is part of the Ascend Learning Trust is a rapidly growing,
popular 11-18 state boarding school serving the Garrison town of Tidworth (60%
of our families are military) and the local community. Ofsted Judged us to be a
‘Good’ school, you can find the link to our most recent Ofsted inspection here:
The
Wellington Academy - Open - Find an Inspection Report - OfstedOur
students’ academic successes along with their achievements in so many areas of
school life, in and out of the classroom, are only part of the Wellington
story. Our young people are genuinely happy to be here, and the quality of
relationships is a cornerstone of our community. The staff team are crucial in
achieving this.
This role is being advertised following the successful
promotion of the previous incumbent to Deputy Headteacher. Due to the late nature of that appointment,
in Term 5 of last year, we have had to delay advertising for this position,
hence the January start.
The purpose of this role is to lead on Attendance as well
as the continuing development of high standard behaviour across the school. In addition, the successful candidate will
lead a strong team of safeguarding professionals, undertaking the overall
responsibilities of a DSL. You do not
currently need to be a DSL but must have significant experience and training in
this area. Whatever your experiences to date, you must demonstrate
how you have had an impact on the lives of young people e.g. through improving behaviour,
raising academic performance or through strategic leadership in another form. Most important of all is that you have the
kind of positive mindset that believes anything is possible and that you are someone
who is:
- an outstanding classroom practitioner
- an effective and innovative leader with up-to-date
knowledge and thinking around positive behaviour and attendance.
- passionate about inclusive education
- committed to a culture of safeguarding for all
and by all.
- energetic, enthusiastic and full of new ideas
- ambitious and keen to play a significant role in
the future development of The Wellington Academy
- supportive of the development of the Trust and
ready to contribute to the wider Trust leadership.
This is a unique opportunity to join an expanding and successful
Multi Academy Trust with big ambitions.
For further information please contact recruitment, visits to the school are encouraged.
