What skills and experience we're looking for

Camulos Academy serves a relatively new and diverse community with wonderful pupils who are eager to learn. We need an exemplary practitioner who can model the high expectations of their practice to other staff and pupils across the school.

This role is for an Assistant Headteacher, English and Assessment Lead and DDSL. This will be a teaching role maximum 0.8 initially continuing with a very able and settled Y6 class for the summer term. This post will be an ideal stepping stone for an ambitious professional who is looking for deputy headship in the next few years. The essential aspect of the role is to be an exemplary role model to others in teaching and learning. This will include coaching and mentoring new colleagues to the profession, leading a phase and a core subject – English.

If you have experience of leading a core subject, being a phase lead, developing other teachers and securing good outcomes, this could be the perfect next role for you.

Our modern, spacious and well-resourced site which is located close to the A12 and the Northern Gateway Leisure Development could be just what you are looking for.

Our pupils achieve and behave well but this candidate would support us in reaching even higher!

If this sounds like the perfect next step for you, please get in touch and arrange a visit.

Our school, which opened in September 2016, was built in the area known as the Northern Gateway to the north of Britain’s oldest recorded Roman town, Colchester. An area that has been developed to create a place where local people and visitors alike can choose how they can shape healthy, active lifestyles for themselves and their families.

We are a vibrant and dynamic community and provide a rich and exciting curriculum to develop the confidence and enthusiasm for learning that will take our pupils through Primary to Secondary and beyond. Our school motto is ‘Bringing learning to Life’ and this summarises our school values and priorities. You will see this motto encompassed by the wide range of rich learning opportunities and extra-curricular clubs on offer.
