Assistant Headteacher job summary
We are seeking to fill the following position:
An inspirational and child-centred Assistant Headteacher to work in our Year 5 and 6 class from January 2023.
The successful candidate will need to be involved in the leadership, strategic direction and development of our school in co-operation with, and under the direction of, the headteacher by:
- Supporting the vision, ethos and policies of the school and promoting high levels of achievement;
- Supporting the creation and implementation of the school development plan within the national and local context, and take sole responsibility for appropriately delegated aspects of it;
- Supporting all staff in achieving the priorities and targets which the school sets for itself, and providing them with support and guidance in implementing schemes of work;
- Supporting the evaluation of the effectiveness of the school’s policies and developments;
- Ensuring that parents are well informed about the school curriculum, its targets, children’s attainment and their part in the process of improvement.
- Supporting the headteacher in developing positive working relationships with and between all staff and to provide and sustain motivation of all;
- Leading groups of staff in development activities, delegate appropriately and evaluate outcomes;
- Supporting the headteacher in the implementation of the school’s performance management;
- Advising on, and contributing to, the professional development of staff;
- Supporting the headteacher in the management and organisation of relevant groupings of children to ensure effective teaching and learning takes place and that children’s personal development needs are met.
The successful candidate will need to show outstanding classroom practice by:
- Developing a classroom environment and teaching practice which secures effective learning across the breadth of the national curriculum, clearly demonstrating effective teaching, classroom organisation and high standards of achievement, behaviour and discipline;
- Supporting the Headteacher in the monitoring of the quality of teaching and children’s achievements including the analysis of performance data;
- Supporting the Headteacher in developing links with parents, other schools, educational institutions and the wider community, including business and industry, in order to enhance teaching and learning and children’s personal development.
- Being inspirational, nurturing, creative and passionate about learning, whilst being flexible and committed to contributing to all aspects of school life;
- Having a good knowledge of phonics;
- Adopting creative approaches to learning and is able to secure high quality outcomes;
- Demonstrating and supporting our EverTen ethos;
- Having very high expectations and standards of teaching, pupil achievement and behaviour;
- Leading both core and foundation curriculum subjects;
- Being a team player with a ‘can do attitude’ who puts the children of Everton first;
- Caring for the well-being of our children;
