Assistant Headteacher job summary
We are seeking an Assistant Headteacher to lead on teacher and support staff development at all career stages.
Starting from a strong foundation of excellent teaching and a highly skilled support staff team, we are looking for someone who has the skills and ambition to further develop our whole staff team.
In 2021, we have capacity for a funded, school-wide coaching programme for teachers and regular after-school CPD opportunities. We are also investing in our mentors for the Early Career Framework and in professional development for our support staff. This is an exciting opportunity to lead this ambitious programme and to ensure maximum impact for our current and future students.
Silverdale is the founding School of the South Yorkshire Teaching Hub. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with the Hub and its partners to be at the forefront of teacher development.

Silverdale School is an extremely popular and high-achieving 11-18 comprehensive in the south west of Sheffield and is now the founding school of Chorus Education Trust. The school is rated as ‘Outstanding’ (Ofsted 2014) and achieved the best GCSE results in 2018 of any state school in Sheffield. At Post 16 the progress students make places Silverdale in the top 10% of schools nationally. At its heart is one of the country’s largest Teaching Schools, the Sheffield Teaching School Alliance. Silverdale moved into a brand new building in January 2009 with a full complement of facilities. Silverdale School is part of Chorus Education Trust, and as such all appointees may be required to work at any Trust site in the future.
