Assistant Headteacher job summary
We are seeking to appoint an Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for behaviour, attendance and safeguarding at Foxwood Academy.
This is a genuinely exciting time to join the school. We are in the process of developing a new, purpose-built provision, which will become one of the largest special schools in the region. Alongside this, we are expanding significantly. This is a rare opportunity to help shape a growing, evolving school and leave a lasting legacy.
At Foxwood, our work is underpinned by four core values:
Education - every child deserves the highest quality provision
Independence - preparing pupils for life beyond school
Celebration - recognising success in all its forms
Learning for Life - equipping young people to be active, healthy and fulfilled members of their community
These values are not slogans, they drive our expectations, our curriculum and our day-to-day practice.
The Assistant Headteacher will play a key strategic role in maintaining a calm, safe and purposeful environment where all pupils can thrive. You will lead on behaviour, attendance and safeguarding, ensuring clarity, consistency and high standards across the school.
Foxwood is a special school, but first and foremost we are a school. We have high expectations, clear systems and a shared commitment to getting the basics right. We welcome applications from both special and mainstream backgrounds, what matters most is strong leadership, clarity and a commitment to inclusion.
You may already be a senior leader looking for a new challenge, or an ambitious middle leader ready to step up. We will provide the support, challenge and opportunity to develop.
Foxwood has a strong track record of developing leaders, with several recent senior staff progressing to headship. This role offers a genuine pathway for those with the ambition and capacity to take the next step in their career.
