“I am greeted with happy smiles every morning from children who are eager to learn, who respect each other and truly understand team work. They certainly put a smile on my face! – Staff ”
An exciting and rare opportunity exists to join Garfield’s senior leadership team. We are a friendly, supportive school with an uncompromising commitment to raising standards for all our wonderful pupils. We are delighted to be situated within a vibrant, multicultural community in a school with brilliant facilities for all. We are a securely “good” school (Ofsted 2019) and inclusion is a key strength. Our inclusion team is very strong and highly valued. We have an experienced Learning Mentor and teaching assistants and are an attachment aware school. Our provision includes our new KS1 Nurture Group, a counselling service to support pupil mental health and a range of interventions. Our facilities for inclusion are amazing and include a number of specialist rooms and areas.
At Garfield it is important to all staff that they get to know every child and ensure that all children know who they can talk to when they are facing times of challenge. We acknowledge that developing relationships is key and that children may need support in different ways and at different times to help them engage with their learning. We are curious and non-judgemental and place a huge emphasis on well-being and really try to understand why children may behave in different ways. Staff work hard to help the children ’ride the waves’ and support them to become more resilient over time.
