Assistant Headteacher job summary
Leiston is a 420 place school with a busy nursery. Currently judged by Ofsted as ‘Good’. We offer our children a wide range of opportunities. Leiston Primary School is a supportive and thriving environment working with pupils from a range of backgrounds. We constantly look at ways to develop and extend our practice to support our role as part of the community. We uphold a safeguarding ethos at the very heart of what we do and it forms our decisions on a day by day basis with the child’s voice being a key part of this. Our ideal candidate will work to ensure that the curriculum and assessment across the school are effective and implemented as well as respond to the day to day needs of the children and organisation as well as being a positive and welcoming force in the school.

- is passionate about teaching and learning and is able to motivate and inspire pupils and colleagues
- is a positive and welcoming presence in the school and works effectively with all stakeholders
- has proven experience of effective phase and subject leadership
- understands the importance of shared culture within a school and knows how to promote this for the benefit of all
- is an excellent class practitioner
- has high expectations in all areas of school life
- is able to manage a team through a balance of support and challenge to secure best practice
