What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking to appoint an outstanding Pastoral Leader to be the figurehead for and the driving force behind all aspects of Personal Development within Litcham School, as we strive to return to and then exceed the fantastic work we achieved in this area pre-pandemic. We are a rural comprehensive and an ‘All through’ school, so relevant experience in those areas would be an advantage, although not essential. However, you will need to be able to demonstrate a strong track record of relevant Leadership, as well as a wide and up to date knowledge of relevant current national strategy, legislation and policy. Although you will be expected to work closely with the Primary Phase leaders, you will be mainly based at the Secondary phase of the school.

What the school offers its staff

Litcham School is an ‘all through’ school which is one of 15 schools within Synergy Multi Academy Trust. Although we are an ‘all through 4-16’ school this role will largely focus on the Secondary Phase. Other Synergy secondary schools are Reepham High School & College, Sheringham High School and Stalham High School. Synergy MAT grew significantly in September 2021 when the North Norfolk Academies Trust (NNAT) merged with Synergy. Synergy already enjoys effective and productive trust wide collaboration, which is particularly strong in its primary schools, and the merger has paved the way for the next stage of collaboration between secondary schools. We expect being part of this collaboration will offer excellent opportunities for professional development at all levels, but particularly at Senior Leadership level. This enhanced collaboration is now in its second year. To find out more about Synergy MAT, please visit its website.

Commitment to safeguarding

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. If appointed you will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check and comply with child protection policies and practices. You will also need to provide two satisfactory references.

Litcham School

Litcham School is an excellent school across both the Primary and the Secondary Phases. Outcomes have been strong for several years and our recently published Ofsted Graded inspection report judged the school to be Good in all areas. We firmly believe high quality Personal Development is the foundation of outstanding school–pupil rapport, pupils feeling a sense of belonging to and ownership of the school, positive school-community links and subsequent pupil progress.
