Essential
- QTS status & 3 years teaching experience
- Successful experience of developing the skills of colleagues
- Leadership experience in a school
- Successful experience of leading whole school change
- Experience of working with pupils with SEN
- Successful experience as a curriculum leader in a core area

- Further qualification or nationally recognised courses undertaken
- Experience of teaching across more than one key stage

Further details about the role
A. Main Purpose
Accountable for the strategic direction and development of agreed areas, under the direction of the headteacher. Be the champion for inclusive practice by creating a shared vision and strategy for how our high expectations for all children will be met.
This role is not class based but has an approximately 30-50% teaching commitment which includes teaching some specific groups.
- Provide senior leadership of the inclusion strand within the school with overall responsibility for special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), free school meals/pupil premium, English as an additional language (EAL) and safeguarding including e-safety.
- Support strategic development of the school ensuring the best outcomes for all children, especially disadvantaged children.
- Support the creation and implementation of the school strategic plan.
- Have line management responsibility for teaching assistants, SENCo, midday supervisors, pastoral team and the extended school staff.
- Inspire, challenge and motivate others.
- Promote effective communication between other colleagues, the leadership team, the specialist Communication and Interaction Needs (COIN) centre and governors
- Participate in, and influence, school decision making
The post is in addition to those professional responsibilities, which are common to all class teachers on the main or upper pay scales, and is in accordance with the current STPCD and other current legislation.
