Assistant Headteacher (Science) job summary
Be responsible for the key Ofsted judgements areas in Science and shaping strategic development of these areas. Help deliver outstanding outcomes in Science through your own teaching.
Work within an existing team to enhance already strong operational and strategic performance of a key area. Play a role in the leadership of the academy trust, contributing fully to corporate decision-making.
Contribute a significant teaching role within Science to support the continued improvement necessary in order to achieve a future Ofsted whole-school Outstanding judgement.
• Deliver outstanding outcomes in Science. This post includes a significant teaching commitment.
• Contribute to Academy leadership as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
• Share responsibility for key Ofsted judgement areas and their strategic development.
• Facilitate a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.
• Work collaboratively with the senior leaders and assist the Headteacher and Trustees in defining, developing, and promoting the vision, aims, ethos, and policies of the academy.
• Promote high levels of achievement across the academy through inspirational leadership and creativity.
• On occasion, in the absence of the deputy head/headteacher, undertake some of the professional duties of the Headteacher
• Contribute to the self-evaluation of the academy and play a significant role in the academy improvement planning process taking account of the agreed priorities of the academy.
• Exemplify the application of agreed policies, priorities, and expectations. Be a roll model to set a good example to other colleagues.
• Develop and enhance a culture of team work, in which views of members of the academy community are valued and taken into account.
• Undertake any reasonable professional duty delegated by the Headteacher

- Behaviour and attitudes
- Personal Development
- Leadership and Management
- To contribute to all whole school development priorities
• To make a significant contribution by teaching in Science
• To ensure a high-quality learning experience for all pupils
• Analyse data effectively to inform future planning and have an impact in raising standards
• Work closely with the Senior Leaders for Standards and Progress to ensure that intervention strategies have maximum impact on overall results
