Assistant Headteacher (SENCO, Student Support & Transition) job summary
The Headteacher and Governors wish to appoint a dynamic, courageous and compassionate leader, with a track record of dedicated service to those they lead and who will uphold our ethos; “working together to ensure success for all”.
Applications from experienced SENCOs who are capable of leading and coordinating the school’s Pupil Premium and Catch-Up funding strategies, whilst being the designated person for LAC, are encouraged. Experience of working within a KS2 setting or with KS2 students would be beneficial.
The successful candidate will join an experienced, supportive and very able Senior Leadership Team and will have the wholehearted encouragement, engagement and involvement of the Local Governing Body.

Mary Webb School and Science College serves a rural community to the south west of Shrewsbury, based in the large village of Pontesbury. The school is surrounded by farmland and is situated at the foot of Earl’s Hill; Shropshire Wildlife Trust’s first nature reserve.
Mary Webb School and Science College is a popular, thriving and successful secondary school, which is over-subscribed in relation to its PAN of 604, but small in relation to the national average for 11-16 schools. The school is led by Headteacher Peter Lowe-Werrell, who is ably supported by a team of very capable and well-qualified professionals who deliver high-quality teaching to all students.
Mary Webb School and Science College converted to an academy in January 2019, as a founder member of the Central Shropshire Academy Trust (CSAT). On 1st May 2022 CSAT merged with TrustEd School’s Partnership to form a new MAT - TrustED CSAT Alliance.
