Assistant Headteacher (SEND and Pastoral) L4-L8 job summary
Litherland Moss Primary School is part of the Heath Family (NW) Multi Academy Trust and is a one-form entry community school. All our work is underpinned by a very well embedded set of school values. We aim to provide our children with a rich curriculum and, as such, develop each as a well-rounded individual with a love of learning and a strong sense of being part of a school and wider community.
We are looking for someone to become a member of our committed and ambitious team – a hard working, proactive professional who will join us in our work to improve outcomes for children.
We are looking for a resilient leader who will support, challenge and work with us all as we take our school into its next stages of growth and development. Whilst experience in the areas of SEND and pastoral work is an advantage, it is not essential – it is the right values that we look for; someone hard-working, willing to learn, to take risks and to expand skills, knowledge and understanding of education and leadership.
This will initially be a non-class based post – there will be some teaching and other areas of responsibility that will be determined on appointment.
The appointed person will be very well supported by the staff team and by The Heath Family (NW) Multi Academy Trust.
The Heath Family (NW) is a Multi Academy Trust which operates 9 schools across Merseyside and Cheshire. The Trust is centred on raising standards of achievement and aspirations for all students to the highest standard by developing and nurturing both primary and secondary academies. Our shared aim is to ensure the best possible quality of learning experience in all schools by encouraging a strong partnership between The Heath Family and all schools in the Trust – balancing the statutory duties of the MAT for performance with the autonomy of each institution. We place an emphasis on talent management, developing leaders and enhanced professional development for all staff.
The Heath Family (North West) is committed to safeguarding, to promoting the welfare of children and adhering to the Equality Act 2010. The successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check before taking up post. To comply with the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996 all prospective employees will be required to supply evidence of eligibility to work in the UK. The Trust is an Equal Opportunities Employer and positively welcomes applications from all people regardless of their sex, creed, marital status, race, age, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation or religious belief
Please see the school website for further information www.litherlandmoss.co.uk or find us on Twitter @litherlandmoss.
Commitment to safeguarding
The Heath Family Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The post is subject to all the relevant pre-employment checks set out in Keeping Children Safe in Education, including an enhanced DBS certificate with a barred-list check, references, and online searches. The amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975 (2013 and 2020) provide that certain spent convictions and cautions are considered ‘protected’. Guidance and criteria on the filtering of these cautions can be found on the Ministry of Justice website.
