Assistant Headteacher job summary
We are looking for an Assistant Headteacher who:
• is committed to providing outstanding Catholic Education within our school community.
• is an outstanding classroom practitioner with high expectations of pupils’ achievement and
behaviour.
• has a proven track record of raising children’s attainment.
• recognises and believes in the unique individuality of each child.
• has the skills to act as a role model, capable of inspiring and motivating others.
• has the drive and vision to contribute to the next stage of the School’s development.
• has successfully led key areas of school improvement.
• is friendly and approachable with excellent communication skills and a good sense of
humour.
The role includes the full time teaching responsibility of being an upper Key Stage 2 teacher. The successful candidate will begin in Year 5 and follow the cohort through to Year 6.
In addition to their teaching responsibility, the new Assistant Headteacher will lead English across the school, take on the role of health and safety co-ordinator and will be a member of the safeguarding team (one of three Deputy DSLs).

The Governors of St Pius X seek to appoint an outstanding teacher to be our new Assistant Headteacher, who will work as a part of an already strong and established leadership team. The vacancy is due to the retirement of one of our Assistant Headteachers. The successful candidate will be playing an active role in leading improvements through partnerships to raise standards and aspirations for all learners.
Being a Catholic school, our curriculum and ethos are based upon the key teachings of our faith, centred on the Gospel Values. The successful candidate must be willing to support and promote the Catholic ethos of the School. A candidate who is a practising Catholic is desirable but not essential.
