Required for September 2020, an ambitious, enthusiastic and dedicated leader with a passion for raising standards through excellence in teaching & learning. As well as being an excellent subject teacher in one of the core/ebacc subjects, you will have a proven track record in working with disadvantaged young people and will want to play a lead role in further raising achievement at The Avon Valley School.
The core purpose of this role is the provision of strong leadership for raising standards of teaching and learning.
This will be done through:
Leading the development of curriculum thinking across the school
Ensuring robust induction systems are in place to support NQTs, ITT and new staff
Developing, leading and managing effective strategies to improve standards of teaching and learning
Line management of designated curriculum areas
Essential educational requirements
Qualified Teacher status
Higher degree qualification, postgraduate courses.
Recognised management qualification

Essential skills and experience
Three years experience as a Middle Leader in a Secondary school.
Experience of conducting successful performance management.
At least 8 years classroom teaching experience within secondary phase.
Evidence of curriculum leadership.
Evidence of outstanding classroom practice.
Personal impact and presence.
Ability to lead, provide clear vision and command respect. Incisive and clear strategic thinker.
Ability to motivate students and staff.
Ability to delegate responsibility, set high standards and provide a focus for improvement.
