Assistant Headteacher job summary
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, outstanding Teacher of Science to join our senior team. The successful candidate will have a firm commitment to raising whole-school achievement; have a professional approach to staff development; high expectations; and a determination to succeed. The post is offered on Senior Leadership (L10 – L14) to be negotiated depending upon experience.
On appointment the job description and tasks will be reviewed to reflect the successful candidate’s strengths, and school priorities as defined in the School Improvement Plan.
The post will be linked with a specific area of responsibility alongside oversight of the Science department. The specific area is: curriculum design, timetable, options.
All Science specialisms are welcome to apply with the opportunity to teach from Year 9 to 13. The Science department is forward thinking, friendly and supportive. All members of the department work collaboratively to continue to improve both teaching and learning within the department. We developed all of the schemes of work for the specifications at GCSE, A Level and BTEC. Students in Year 9, 10 and 11 follow the AQA GCSE (9-1) course, following either the Trilogy route or separate GCSEs in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Students in Year 12 and Year 13 follow the A-Level courses in Biology, Chemistry and Physics as well as Forensics and BTEC Applied Science.
