What skills and experience we're looking for
We are seeking to appoint a talented, enthusiastic and highly motivated Assistant Headteacher to lead the Trust as "Attendance Champion".

The appointed Assistant Headteacher is responsible for leading, championing and improving student attendance across The Academies, having an oversight of academy attendance on a day-to-day basis and developing effective systems and structures that ensure the Academy’s strategic aims are achieved. The Assistant Headteacher will implement effective systems and build close and productive relationships with parents/carers and students to discuss and tackle attendance issues.
To be considered for this position you must have:
- Qualified Teacher Status.
- Leading, championing and improving attendance across The Academies
- Leading, coordinating, line managing and performance managing the attendance team and resources
- Setting a clear vision for improving and maintaining good attendance
- Having a strong grasp of absence data and oversight of absence data analysis
- Producing reports and identifying key insights
- Regularly monitoring and evaluating progress in attendance
- Establishing and maintaining effective systems for tackling absence, ensuring they are adhered to by all staff
- Liaising with pupils, parents/carers and external agencies, where needed, including the local authority to ensure best practice is implemented
- Building close and productive relationships with parents/carers to discuss and tackle attendance issues
- Creating intervention or reintegration plans in partnership with pupils and their parents/carers
- Implementing the most up to date DfE guidance on attendance for the Trust and the academies / schools within the Trust
- Experience as a successful team leader.
- Ability to foster effective relationships with stakeholders and external agencies.

Further details about the role
Our academy operates across two sites.The Lower Academy specialises in the teaching of our Key Stage 3 students, whilst The Upper Academy specialises in teaching Key Stage 4 and 5. The appointed candidate will be responsible for attendance across both sites.
