What skills and experience we're looking for

Have you made an impact on the quality of teaching, learning and leadership in your current school? Abbey Lane Primary School is looking for a non-class-based Assistant Head to support the Headteacher and take primary responsibility for overseeing Pupil Premium and SEND. You will also contribute to the strategic direction and development throughout the school. If you are an excellent practitioner who would like to use your creativity to make a real difference, we would like to hear from you.

We have a strong commitment to raising attainment and ensuring all children reach their potential. We are seeking somebody who:

  • has SEN experience (essential),
  • is an outstanding and dynamic classroom practitioner with high expectations of pupil achievement at all levels,
  • has excellent and proven interpersonal, leadership and management skills,
  • is an inspirational and creative team player with vision and drive who can motivate and lead others,
  • has a good knowledge of monitoring and evaluation processes in order to provide good support for school self-evaluation.

Ideally you will already be an Assistant Head in your current school or have experience of working at this level. You must have experience of SEN pupils and Pupil Premium as you will be taking over these areas of responsibility.

We can offer you enthusiastic and responsive children; an inclusive and engaged community; an active and supportive governing body and a commitment to your continued professional development. The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS check will be required.

Candidates are encouraged to visit the school.
