Assistant Librarian job summary
Faringdon Community college are seeking a creative, energetic and organised individual, with a commitment to supporting the development of the Learning Resource Centre to enable our current comprehensive library service to move to the next stage of development. The ability to inspire and challenge readers of all ages is essential, as is the enthusiasm and energy to operationally support the management of an effective library resource centre within a rapidly changing IT environment.
The Assistant Librarian will demonstrate essential professional characteristics, in particular, initiative, excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with the Librarian to help develop the vision for how learning can be supported and extended. You will need to have a flexible and calm approach and be able to respond to the needs of the School. We would also like the successful applicant – with training – to gather data from the Accelerated Reader programme so that teaching staff can interpret it and use it to support pupil progress.
Applicants should be able to communicate well verbally and have a good standard of numeracy and literacy, demonstrating experience or skills in support of the job role.
