We areseeking to appoint an inspiring assistant principal to join our committed and enthusiastic Senior Leadership Team. The successful candidate will be an experienced middle leader with extensive knowledge of teaching and learning and a desire to develop professionally at a strategic level within the academy. If successful. they will have responsibility for shaping and developing aspects of our curriculum offer.

To be successful you will have:

  • ensured sustained positive outcomes for all children, through consistently ‘great’ teaching.
  • successfully led a core area of the curriculum.
  • previously led the strategic development of ‘evidence-informed’ inclusive teaching practices.
  • delivered professional development, coached and mentored colleagues across school, at different career stages, securing improved outcomes for all children, including those with high levels of educational need.
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

We are a large junior academy, with a committed staff team, serving a wonderfully diverse community in Peterborough. The academy, last inspected in February 2023, is considered an ‘improving academy’, with the new leadership team making positive strides in addressing key priorities.

The Dogsthorpe Junior Academy, part of the Greenwood Academies Trust (GAT), is a junior academy situated in a small community in the north of Peterborough. It is led by the Principal, Julie Cranke, who aims to ensure that it delivers an exciting, innovative and creative curriculum that meets the needs of the pupils. All staff work hard to ensure that every pupil is supported and nurtured, helping them to develop the confidence and skills needed for the years ahead. In addition to the formal curriculum, pupils are also provided with a range of opportunities to follow their own interests and carry out individualised learning programmes.
