What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking for an outstanding leader to join us as Assistant Principal for Behaviour, Culture and Character, supporting the strategic and operational management, development and leadership of Harris City Academy Crystal Palace, and ensuring the achievement of our ethos, aims and objectives.
We would like to hear from you if you have:
- QTS (or equivalent) and a good undergraduate degree
- Extensive teaching experience
- Outstanding teaching practice
- Successful management experience as Head of Department or member of the SLT
- Experience of writing department SEF
- Experience of lesson observations and giving feedback
- Experience of improvement planning
- Experience of implementing a range of strategies to raise student achievement, with evidence of success
- Contribution to impact on the quality of learning and teaching and curriculum
- Experience of developing and sustaining positive relationships with students, parents, staff and the Governing Body to build consensus support and capacity
- Proven track record of managing and implementing change in relation to teaching practices and standards
- A track record of success in leadership and management

Further details about the role
Alongside the general responsibilities of a member of the SLT, your specific areas of focus will include:
- Leading on and developing the shared vision of Behaviour, Character and Culture within the academy
- Carrying out line management responsibilities of the Personal Development Director and the Welfare team
- Supporting the leadership of personal development across the curriculum, to ensure it extends beyond the academic or vocational, to include character, careers and preparation for life in modern Britain
- Monitoring student behaviour statistics, rapidly reducing repeat offenders and improving performance of currently underperforming groups of students (eg SEN/ PP)
- Ensuring that all staff follow the Behaviour for Learning policy consistently and effectively.
- Leading on ensuring that the curriculum delivered in the Behaviour Zone is personalised, effective and support s reintegration back into lessons
- Leading in the monitoring, evaluation and review of behaviour, character, culture and pastoral care, including analysis of Internal exclusions, Off-Site Direction, FTE, and PEX
- Completing PEX packs with the support of behaviour administration
- Overseeing and leading on alternate provision and intervention programmes
