We are seeking to appoint an inspirational Assistant Principal to join our team as we grow our school’s capacity to drive improvement. The successful candidate will have responsibility for developing inclusive practice and be expected to undertake the role of SENDCO.
Dogsthorpe is a large junior academy, with a committed staff team, serving a wonderfully diverse community in Peterborough. The academy was last inspected in February 2023 and is considered an ‘improving academy’. The new leadership team are making positive strides in addressing key priorities.
As an academy, we work hard to meet the needs of all our children and are totally committed to the principals of inclusion. We are experienced in multi-agency work, and our dedicated staff team are focused on ensuring that every child receives the highest quality education and care. To be successful you will have:
- ensured sustained positive outcomes for all children, through consistently ‘great’ teaching.
- led the strategic development of ‘evidence-informed’ inclusive practices particularly in relation to SEND and the Pupil Premium.
- coached and mentored colleagues across school, at different career stages, securing improved outcomes for all children, including those with high levels of educational need.
- contributed to multi-agency work leading to improved pupil outcomes.
- excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

The Dogsthorpe Junior Academy, part of the Greenwood Academies Trust (GAT), is a junior academy situated in a small community in the north of Peterborough. It is led by the Principal, Julie Cranke, who aims to ensure that it delivers an exciting, innovative and creative curriculum that meets the needs of the pupils. All staff work hard to ensure that every pupil is supported and nurtured, helping them to develop the confidence and skills needed for the years ahead. In addition to the formal curriculum, pupils are also provided with a range of opportunities to follow their own interests and carry out individualised learning programmes.
