  • Experience of the design, management and evaluation of intervention strategies that were effective in raising attainment and progress in individuals or groups of pupils

Liverpool College is seeking to appoint an inspiring, innovative and dedicated leader to drive the College’s inclusion strategy in improving outcomes for pupils and groups of pupils and promoting a sense of belonging for all members of the College community. This is a new role at the school following a review of leadership across the College.

Leading our established Inclusion Team, and working closely with the Vice Principals and other senior leaders, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the College’s strategic approach to inclusion, including SEND. They will also lead and manage the strategy to support Pupil Premium (PP) pupils and 16-19 Bursary Fund students, and our wider work around diversity and equity across the College.

The Assistant Principal: Inclusion will have a significant strategic and operational role and will be a key contributor to the successful development and implementation of strategies and policies which deliver an exceptional and transformative education to our pupils. This position provides an ambitious candidate the scope to build an outstanding Inclusion provision at our school.

Liverpool College is a mixed ability 4-19 Academy of some 1660 pupils. The College is situated on a leafy 28-acre campus located in the Mossley Hill area of Liverpool adjacent to Sefton Park.

STRUCTURE AND LEADERSHIP

The College is organized into two phases and five schools:

• The Primary Phase consists of the Pre-Prep (Reception-Year 2) and Preparatory School (Year 3-Year 6) and each are housed in their own buildings.
• The Secondary Phase consists of the Senior School (Middle School (Years 7-9) and Upper School (Years 10-11)) and the Sixth Form (Years 12-13) which share classroom facilities. The Sixth Form also has its own centre.

From September 2025, the leadership of the College will be led by the Principal who is supported by two Vice Principals who are responsible for our educational provision in the primary phase and secondary phase respectively, and by the School Business Manager who will be responsible for the financial management of the College and the operation of its core business and support services.

The wider senior leadership team (College Development Group) will include the Head of Boarding and six Assistant Principals. Two Assistant Principals have College-wide responsibilities (AP: Safeguarding & Wellbeing and AP: Inclusion), three Assistant Principals have responsibilities in the secondary phase (AP: Head of Sixth Form. AP: LCA Curriculum & Learning and AP: LC+ Curriculum & Learning) and in the primary phase there is an Assistant Principal: Deputy Head of Primary.

OUR HISTORY

The College was founded in 1840 and was a founding member of the Headmaster’s Conference and was a fee-paying school until September 2013, when it became an all-through academy for pupils aged 4 to 19 years old. The College also offers state boarding provision. It is a Church of England foundation that has always been open to pupils and families of all faiths and none. It does not apply any faith criteria in its pupil admissions or staff recruitment policy.

In the last few years, it has become one of the most over-subscribed schools in the North of England.

Liverpool College was judged Outstanding in all areas by Ofsted at its last inspection in November 2019.
