Assistant Principal job summary

We are looking for an ambitious and inspiring Assistant Principal to join our supportive and talented team at John Cabot Academy. This Assistant Principal position is required on a one-year fixed term basis to cover maternity leave.

The Academy welcomes applications from candidates interested in the role on a part-time or Job share basis.

The vision for John Cabot academy is to create an Academy where professional learning is what stimulates staff and enables our students to develop a lifelong love of learning. It is one where strong pastoral systems provide the boundaries and safety which allow our students to develop their sense of self and place and leave us with self agency. Finally it is one where we provide moment of awe and wonder for our students. This could occur in a lesson one Friday afternoon or on a trip canoeing in France – but they are the moments which students remember, which cause ‘lightbulbs’ to go off, which develop their sense of self, and ultimately can change the course of their lives.

Training is both local and/or delivered through our excellent stand-alone training facility at the CLF Institute. This exciting opportunity offers the chance to undertake an Assistant Principal role within the Cabot Learning Federation. You will work positively with the Principal and Vice Principal to identify priorities and opportunities for academy improvement that support the achievement of outstanding outcomes. You will also lead on the delivery of one of an academy’s strategic aims and rigorously ensure that the academy’s systems are working smoothly and effectively on a day to day basis.

You will be an inspiring leader who, through leading by example, will promote high expectations and support the delivery of high attainment for all students. You will be an effective team player who is dynamic, creative and able to play a significant role in the strategic direction and development of the academy.

About the Cabot Learning Federation
The Cabot Learning Federation is a diverse Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) in the South West. We currently sponsor eight secondary academies and eight primary academies, an all through provision, Digitech Studio School and a discrete Post 16 provision and an alternative provision which consists of one primary and two secondary phases.
