Assistant Principal/SENCO job summary

The Assistant Principal will be leading on SEND, the pastoral and therapeutic curriculum as well as a wider leadership role. The ability to deliver Maths or English would be desirable. You must have leadership qualities and emotional intelligence. Our students are at risk of permanent exclusion from mainstream school and you must have a proven track record for delivering outstanding outcomes for pupils. Ideally you will have National Award for SEN Co-ordination or a willingness to complete it within 3 years of appointment. You should have teaching experience in a secondary school, special school or alternative provision. You will act as Deputy DSL and you must have the ability to build effective working relationships with staff, students and outside agencies.

Abbey View School is an alternative provision free school, founded in 2013 by 3 founding secondary schools. We can cater for up to 40 students age 11 to 16 who are at risk of permanent exclusion from their mainstream school. We teach in small groups and offer GSCE in core subjects as well as Photography, Art, ICT and PHSE. We have a strong pastoral team and the working ethos is supportive and caring.
