Assistant Principal job summary
The Role
We are expanding our leadership team and seeking to recruit Assistant Principals to work in partnership with the Principal, to ensure that pupils across Whitefield School continue to have every possible opportunity to enjoy school and to make outstanding progress.
You will be expected to carry out the professional duties of an Assistant Principal as circumstances may require, and in accordance with the Trust’s policies and ethos under the direction of the Vice Principal.
To support and secure the commitment of others to the vision, ethos and policies of the Trust and academy and promote high levels of achievement.
The Assistant Principal role will be key in developing positive working relationships with and between all pupils and staff in the academy, and act as a positive role model to staff, maintaining high professional standards and levels of care.
About You
• You will be a qualified teacher with 5 years or more successful experience in a leadership role.
• You will have a strong track record of proven ability as an excellent classroom teacher coupled with experience of leading an aspect of whole academy development.
• You will possess excellent organisational and planning skills, with a strong desire, energy and vision to build on the school’s outstanding achievements.
• You will be required to teach and act as an excellent role model for colleagues; monitoring and evaluating the quality of curriculum planning, teaching and learning, and track pupils progress through accurate assessment, recording and reporting across the school.
• Lead groups of staff in development activities and evaluate outcomes.
• Comply with and actively implement Trust policies regarding Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities, Safeguarding and Behaviour Management.
• Work with all the Senior Leadership Team in implementing the Academy Improvement Plan.
• Promote the Academy Trust ethos, attitudes and values in all aspects of work with pupils, colleagues support staff, parents/carers and visitors.
• Promote the academy and celebrate its success at every opportunity, and participate in training and the implementation of educational health care practises.
• Have due regard for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and to follow the child protection procedures and the Trust’s safeguarding policy.
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of curriculum and relevant SEN issues through INSET, wider professional development and research.
