Assistant Principal job summary

AP needed for a January 2024 start. Full-time. Any subject considered but English, Maths or Science an advantage.

Wye School is part of United Learning, a group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England. Schools within United Learning work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. With a shared curriculum and lesson plans from around the group available to all, our teachers have strong foundations to lead the engaging, rounded education our children deserve. The shared curriculum includes assessment support which allows for across group moderation.

Wye School opened in September 2013 with a single intake of Year 7 students who delivered our excellent first GCSE results in August 18, followed by strong GCSE and then A Level results in following years. We are a mixed comprehensive school. Ofsted praised our, ‘very vibrant and strong leadership... clear and aspirational vision,’ and, ‘high level of ambition for the students and the school.’ We are over-subscribed and are only interested in appointing teachers who aim to challenge and fully support outstanding progress for every student.

We are now looking to add to our close-knit team of dedicated and dynamic staff. We want to appoint an Assistant Principal who is capable of leading our 6th Form in all pastoral and academic areas, and leading on careers and safeguarding for the school. The post holder will also teach, with English, Maths or Science the best fit with our timetable, but any subject will be considered. Please see the Job Description for more detail on the AP role. Our SLT is a strong team who work together well and look forward to working with a new AP.

As well as future opportunities at Wye School, there will be possibilities at Chilmington Green School, a second United Learning school that has opened in Ashford this year and is in a cluster arrangement with Wye School.

We welcome applications from candidates with varying degrees of experience but a minimum of 5 years teaching and Key Stage 5 experience are essential. We offer extensive training opportunities through United Learning.

Applications will be considered on receipt. Suitable candidates will be interviewed on receipt of application and Wye School reserves the right to withdraw the position if an early appointment is made.

To arrange an informal discussion, please contact Chloe.Brisley@wyeschool.org.uk

United Learning is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. A DBS (previously CRB) check is required for all successful applicants.
