Assistant Principal job summary

Yeoman Park Academy is a Special Academy and would like to appoint a person who is first and foremost an outstanding, creative, and committed classroom practitioner who is currently a Team Leader and or SENDCO to work in one of our four primary aged classes. You would be responsible for leading and managing our primary team and also be part of the wider Leadership Team. Your role is not only to deliver a fun and exciting structured curriculum for a group of primary children but to enact the vision and values of the academy and Trust. You would be one of the three department leads with additional responsibilities of an Assistant Principal. You will work with the non-teaching Assistant Principal under the direction of the Principal.

All class groups are usually based around 8 children and a teacher plus two support staff. All children have an Education Health Care Plan and have behaviours associated with their autism which are minimised through good practice including a well-structured day with clear routines and expectations. Three of the classes are predominantly ASD and one PMLD but all are individuals with their own personalities and strengths. We truly believe that we are Empowering the Learners to be the best they can.

The successful candidate should have good interpersonal skills as they will be working as a part of a wider team and will be regularly communicating with parents who themselves may need support. This is a real opportunity to make a positive difference in the children's and their family's lives.
