What skills and experience we're looking for

Millthorpe School is seeking to appoint an Assistant SENCO to provide support and assistance to the SENCO in the management of the provision for pupils identified as having Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND).

As Assistant SENCO, you will undertake a wide range of duties and responsibilities, including ensuring the provision of support for pupils with SEND by implementing and leading intervention groups, supporting and advising colleagues within the school on strategies to support pupils with SEND, working with parents/carers and external agencies, and by line managing the school’s team of Teaching Assistants.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about making learning effective and enjoyable for all children, who is aware of the national and local agendas in SEND and who can work closely with the team at Millthorpe to ensure the provision for pupils with SEND is the best that it can be. You will have a degree and a specific qualification(s) related to SEND, as well as experience of working with a range of pupils with SEND across key stages.

Interviews will be held during the week commencing 4 December 2023.
