What skills and experience we're looking for
This is an exciting opportunity to join Ratton School in a fixed-term role dedicated to supporting the capacity of the Year Leader (YL) and Assistant Year Leader (AYL) teams. In this role, you will lead the Behaviour and Pastoral Support initiatives across year groups, ensuring the consistent application of our behaviour management policy under the direction of the Year Leaders.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Safeguarding: Supporting the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) by managing, reporting, and following up on safeguarding concerns. You will maintain up-to-date child protection records and attend relevant meetings, ensuring compliance with the school's safeguarding policies and statutory requirements.
- Behavioural Support: Establishing high standards in line with the school’s ethos, you will provide advice to students, investigate incidents, and coordinate with tutors and teaching staff. You will also manage the onsite exclusion room and help administer sanctions such as detentions.
- Communication and Collaboration: Building effective relationships with students, parents and staff will be crucial. You will ensure smooth communication within the school community, updating parents about incidents and facilitating meetings as needed.
- Documentation and Administration: Maintaining accurate records, including Student Support documents and Additional Needs plans, will be essential. You will also assist the Year Leader in preparing events like Parents Evenings and help with various administrative tasks.
