What skills and experience we're looking for

The role of HoD is suitable for a highly effective secondary teacher of Maths or current Head of Department looking for a new challenge. You will be able to evidence recent training and experience of mentoring/coaching ITT/RQTs.

The role of AAHT is suitable for a successful current Head of Maths or for a strong Maths practitioner with current/recent senior leadership experience and who can evidence their positive impact on school improvement.

As Head of Maths, your primary role will be to lead and support the Maths team to improve outcomes for pupils across all phases, working closely with our Primary Phase Maths leader to ensure a well sequenced through-school curriculum which supports progression. You will support colleagues in delivering highly effective Maths lessons at KS3 and 4 which inspire and motivate pupils to learn well and achieve their potential and be an excellent Maths practitioner with knowledge and experience of teaching for mastery.

As Associate Assistant Headteacher, in additional to the role outlined above, you will also be responsible for at least one whole school priority as identified in our School Development Plan, having the chance to lead and support colleagues across the school. This will depend on your existing skills and experience and you should outline in your application whether this is in in the area of ‘Personal Development’, ‘Quality of Curriculum’ or ‘Behaviour and Safeguarding’, giving specific examples of projects/initiatives you have undertaken in your current role and the impact you have had.

In either role, you will be passionate about teaching and learning, and have a proven track record of delivering highly engaging and effective Maths lessons securing strong outcomes of your own and leading others in doing so.
