Attendance Assistant job summary
JOB PURPOSE:
Day to day management of the school’s attendance policy under the direction of the line manager.
It is expected that the Attendance Assistant will liaise closely with other members of the pastoral support teams within school and be able to administer first-aid, if required.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
To actively promote the school’s Equal Opportunities Policy and observe the standard of conduct which prevents discrimination taking place

To fully comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 etc, the School’s Health and Safety Policy and all locally agreed safe methods of work
At the discretion of the Headteacher, such other activities as may from time to time be agreed consistent with the nature of the job described above
To work with colleagues to achieve service plan objectives and targets
To participate in Employee Development schemes, and Performance Management and contribute to the identification of own team development needs
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
ATTENDANCE:
Daily scanning of attendance registers
Retrieve attendance information from the school’s database as required
Making first day contact by telephone with the parents of pupils who are absent
Record accurately the contact made and transferring the necessary information to the appropriate registers and staff
Receive calls from parents with information regarding absence and any other relevant matters that need to be referred
Liaise with the Education Welfare Officer
Notify parents of absences from exams/required coursework or attendance at an INSET day
Assisting all staff with enquiries concerning attendance reports, timetable and whereabouts of pupils
Assist with all tasks associated with the running of the Welfare Officer as required
FIRST-AID/WELFARE:
To attend to pupils and staff if taken ill or injured, administering first-aid and arranging, on the authorisation of the Headteacher, for the individual to go to hospital, to the doctor or home
Maintenance of the accident book, medical tracker and records as required by legislation and in line with school policy
To be a positive role model for pupils
To be available to listen to pupil’s concerns and respond appropriately
GENERAL SUPPORT:
Report pupil and school issues in line with the School’s policies for health and safety, child protection, behaviour management etc.
Attend meetings and training sessions as required
Be involved in extra curricular activities, e.g. open days, presentation evenings
*Note that accountability for the school’s attendance and safeguarding training sits with the Deputy Headteacher i/c Behaviour, Attendance and Safeguarding
