Cardinal Griffin Catholic College, a Catholic secondary school committed to nurturing academic and personal development, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Attendance Lead Officer. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing student attendance, ensuring compliance with school policies and statutory regulations. Your efforts will directly contribute to student welfare and success, fostering a positive learning environment.
About the role:
We are looking to appoint a dedicated professional who is ready to play a crucial role in our
school community, focusing on the well-being and educational engagement of our students.
This role will require the successful candidate to be a Deputy Safeguarding Lead.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the school’s attendance strategy, ensuring timely and accurate recording of student attendance.
- Monitor daily attendance, identifying patterns of absenteeism or lateness and taking appropriate action.
- Work closely with pastoral staff, parents, and external agencies to address and resolve attendance issues.
- Maintain detailed records and produce attendance reports for senior leadership and governors.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding their child’s attendance, including issuing letters and conducting meetings when necessary.
- Develop initiatives to improve overall school attendance, promoting the importance of regular attendance to students, parents, and staff.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and safeguarding practices related to student attendance.
- Liaise with local authorities regarding persistent absentees and manage legal processes if required.
- Provide support to staff and students to encourage punctuality and regular attendance, fostering a culture of accountability.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven experience in an attendance management or pastoral support role within a school setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage parents, students, and external agencies.
- Knowledge of statutory regulations regarding school attendance and safeguarding.
- Proficiency in using attendance management systems (e.g., SIMS) and Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
- Commitment to supporting the Catholic ethos and values of the school.
- Driving Licence is essential as home visits may be needed.
