The position is permanent, following a 6 month probationary period.
Join The Hereford Church of England Academy as Attendance Officer and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.
As Attendance Officer, you will be responsible supporting student attendance and punctuality. This includes monitoring attendance and investigating reasons for absence or truancy, including liaison with families and other professionals. The role will involve home visits and working with outside agencies and vulnerable students. You will maintain records and produce communications, minutes, documents and statistics for the SLT and Education Welfare Officer, including evidence for penalty fines/court cases. As relief DDSL you will play a vital role in ensuring safeguarding is kept to the highest possible standard. Duties include triaging notifications, making referrals and/or seeking support. You will represent the Academy at external multiagency meetings and provide front-line support for students and staff.
What are we looking for?
Ideally, we are looking for someone who has experience in an Attendance Officer role, but a willingness to learn and work as part of the team are much more important than past experience.
The successful candidate will be very well organised with a keen eye for detail. They will be reliable, competent, adaptable and conscientious. They will have good spoken and written English and good ICT skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with secondary aged students, their parents, teachers and other professionals. They will have a clear understanding of confidentiality and be able to work sensitively in a variety of situations and to strict deadlines.
Applicants will demonstrate that they have plenty of common sense, along with a calm and positive manner. The role offers lots of varied responsibilities so you should be excited that every day is different.
A First Aid at Work Certificate or willingness to train is essential.
