Attendance Officer job summary
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Attendance Officer to join our passionate pastoral team at Sir William Robertson Academy. In this pivotal role, you will support pupils in overcoming barriers to engagement in their education, ensuring they attend school regularly and are supported throughout their academic journey.
As the Attendance Officer, you will be responsible for monitoring and improving pupil attendance. This will include identifying absent students, conducting investigations, and working collaboratively with parents, pupils, and external agencies to foster positive relationships that ensure the best outcomes for our students.
You will play a vital role in the school’s safeguarding processes, requiring you to be highly organised and efficient in managing student data to ensure compliance with legal requirements and deadlines. The successful candidate will have excellent IT skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Key responsibilities will include:
- -Monitoring and improving pupil attendance, identifying absences, and investigating reasons for non-attendance.
- - Building strong relationships with students, parents, and external agencies.
- - Ensuring all student data is accurate and up to date, in compliance with relevant legal and safeguarding frameworks.
- - Carrying out home visits as part of a proactive approach to improving attendance (a full driving licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance are required).
Working hours:
- 37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (Term time plus 5 inset/additional days)
- Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
