Job summary

Queen Elizabeth Grammar School has a vacancy for an experienced Attendance & Support Officer. The successful applicant will work to promote good attendance and educational success in the school and will have relevant experience of monitoring and improving attendance and early intervention work with families.

Key Role:
• To support/manage student attendance.
• To support children whose education is at risk due to attendance related issues.
• To help families to improve children’s access to learning and enable all children to maximise their educational opportunities, especially those vulnerable groups that may need additional support.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The post is subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.

Essential qualifications

ICT competent.

Essential skills and experience

Considerable experience of working with young people.

Able to demonstrate a good level of literacy and numeracy.

Be willing to attend specialist training as required.

Demonstrate an understanding of the issues that may affect a student’s ability to attend school.

Demonstrate an awareness, understanding and commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children and young people.

Able to communicate with a variety of people.

Able to manage difficult conversations.

Self-motivated and able to work constructively as part of a team.

Able to meet deadlines whilst working under pressure.

Sense of humour.

ICT competent.

Full, clean driver’s license.
