Bacon’s has long been an important part of the fabric of the local community in South East London and has served the community in its various forms for over three hundred years. We are proud of that history and determined to meet the needs of students today and tomorrow. The school joined the United Learning MAT in 2018 and has gone from strength to strength since. We are now oversubscribed with first-choice applicants and achieved a ‘Good’ OFSTED inspection and excellent exam results in 2022.

Bacon’s achievements were recognised by Ofsted in June 2022 when we received a grading of ‘Good’ overall and in every area. We also celebrated our best ever GCSE outcomes in 2022 with 79% of students achieving 5+ 9-4 grades inc. English and Maths and a Progress 8 of +0.48. Our VI form results were also our best ever with 69% of grades at A*-B and an ALPS score of 2 (top 10% nationally). The Role
We are seeking a passionate, highly motivated and ambitious Teacher of Science to join our successful science department at Bacon’s College. If you are a dedicated, motivated and determined individual looking for an opportunity to make your mark, this is the perfect opportunity for you to join our journey to success. Biology is the preferred specialism but we are open to applicants with other specialisms.
Science is a strong department with a track record of successful outcomes. 2022 GCSE results in combined science were 74% 9-4 and 59% 9-5. Over 70% of students achieved grades 9-7 in biology, chemistry and physics. We are not complacent and seek to improve these results year on year.
The sciences are popular subjects with all students studying combined science to GCSE level and triple science available as an option that recruits well. We also offer biology, chemistry and physics at A level which recruit and perform well.

This role calls for an individual who is able to inspire, challenge and motivate our students. You must have the highest of expectations of every student, be enthusiastic, flexible and have a desire to see science continue to flourish as well as the desire to become a valued member of Bacon’s College.
