Behaviour and Learning Mentor job summary

This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of children and families, providing specialist behaviour support, attendance management, reintegration support, and fostering pupil leadership.

Role responsibilities will include:

Providing specialist behavioural and learning support to children, offering guidance, empathy, and a safe space for them to share their concerns and challenges.

Collaboration with colleagues, specialists and families, offering support and advice to ensure their child's well-being and academic success.

Implementing effective behaviour management strategies, promoting positive relationships and fostering a calm and inclusive learning environment.

Developing and implementing behavioural and learning initiatives to encourage positive behaviour and learning.

Supporting children transitioning back into classes following incidents ensuring a smooth and successful reintegration process.

Upholding child protection and safeguarding policies and procedures

The roles will require you to have:

An understanding and adherence to guidance, policies and laws.

Relevant experience in a similar role, preferably within a special school or educational setting.

A genuine passion for supporting children and families, with a strong understanding of their specific needs and challenges.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, staff, and families.

Excellent positive behaviour support.

A A resilient and patient nature, with the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.

Strong organisational skills, with the ability to effectively manage your workload and prioritise tasks and use IT effectively.

A commitment to promoting inclusivity, equality and diversity within the school community.

The ability to use your initiative, take responsibility, be accountable, creative and professional at all times.
