JOB DESCRIPTION

Main Purpose of Job

  • To monitor the school corridors and grounds during lesson times to ensure punctuality, good behaviour and safety.
  • To supervise students as they are commuting between sites and ensure that they are staying off the road and behaving appropriately on a public footpath during break and lunch times.
  • To supervise entry to and exit from the lower school
  • To support with on-call
  • To support with mentoring students
  • To contribute to the overall ethos, work and aims of the school.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To monitor the school corridors and grounds on the Lower School site during lesson times to ensure good attendance, punctuality to class, positive behaviour and safety.
  • To ensure that students not in class present themselves for their lessons.
  • To escort students referred out of lessons to the Reset Room.
  • To escort students to the medical bay where necessary or call for first aid support as appropriate.
  • To help control students returning to lessons immediately following break and lunch.
  • To report any untoward circumstances to the Assistant Headteacher.
  • To supervise students leaving after school and clear the playground and site.
  • To act as a First Aider within the school and support colleagues through a rota system.


PERSON SPECIFICATION

Knowledge, Skills and Ability

Experience of working with young people in an educational setting

Ability to work affectively with students from diverse cultural and social backgrounds

Good skills of empathy, listening communication and responding with appropriate language to build rapport with young people

Ability to work independently and autonomously

Ability to work well as a team member

Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a positive, professional attitude

Able to deal calmly and effectively with difficult situations and challenging behaviour

Have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively

A good working knowledge of computer based office systems, e.g. word processing, email, internet, Powerpoint
