Behaviour Support Assistant job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic, positive, motivated and proactive individual to join our brilliant team of behaviour support assistants. Working as part of the larger Pastoral Team, the prime focus of the role will include overseeing student support areas, mentoring and supporting students in small groups or 1:1.

Ormiston Endeavour Academy is an 11-16 secondary Academy situated in north-east Ipswich. As a relatively small Academy with just under 700 students, we take pride in the high levels of support, care and challenge we offer all of our students. Endeavour students are warm, welcoming and willing to push themselves to succeed. Our fantastic staff are committed to providing a caring yet challenging environment in which young people can learn, develop and become successful global citizens.

Our new colleague will also benefit from being part of Ormiston Academies Trust, a MAT of 43 primary and secondary academies. The Trust’s vision is for all young people to have access to the highest academic, social and practical skills required to achieve their full potential. OAT support all staff so that they can enhance and develop their professional skills whatever their role within the trust.

About you:

You will be resilient and have an ability to help students reflect on their behaviour. You will have a commitment to the inclusive and restorative ethos of Ormiston Endeavour Academy and to the academic achievement of all students.

The role will also involve some pastoral administration work, including leading on the management of the school’s centralised detention and behaviour system and assisting with on-call. You will have excellent communication skills, good ICT skills and able to work as part of a team.

Our curriculum is organised to allow a course of study that is broad, rich and flexible in supporting students. In addition, we offer our students a broad enrichment programme which all staff are encouraged to participate in.
