Behaviour Support Assistant job summary
Following a strategic review of Academy priorities, we are seeking to enhance and develop our Behaviour Support Team. We are seeking to recruit a number of key roles to build upon already good foundations and strengthen further, capability and effectiveness of behaviour support within the Academy. We are seeking an experienced Behaviour Support Assistant, with a proven track record of effectively supporting the positive modification of student behaviours in a secondary setting.
The Behaviour Support Assistant will be responsible for triaging and recording behaviour incidences. They will ensure that behaviour incidences are recorded effectively on our school MIS system and parental communication is timely. They will work collaboratively with our Behaviour, Pastoral, Well-Being teams, as well as our Inclusion Managers and Heads of Year, in addition to the Academy’s Leadership Team to ensure that key information is shared, and robust record keeping is maintained.
This role will be on a contract of 35 hours per week, Term Time Only (39 weeks)
Salary: Actual £20,568 per annum (Full Time Equivalent: £25,979) (Pay Review pending) TBOWA Support Staff Scale 19

As Behaviour Support Assistant, you will be welcomed into an exceptional team of professionals to:
- To ensure the smooth organisation and day to day running of the Reset room and triage
- To support the work of the pastoral team, including Heads of Year and Deputy Vice Principals
- To direct/refer students to the relevant person depending upon presenting need through triage
- To liaise with students who have been sent to Reset, support them to reflect, complete the consequence and return to class
- To be the administrative lead for the Academy’s Reset Room, ensuring referrals are logged on, reflections completed, follows up achieved
- To contribute, with a preventative emphasis, to student progress, attendance and the link with emotional and behavioural wellbeing by skilled co-ordination and organisation of space and time
- To generate data and analysis from the school’s MIS relating to behaviour and exclusions
- To work alongside the pastoral and inclusion teams, developing student profiles, maintaining student support plans, attending meetings when requested
The successful candidate will:
- Have strong administrative and organisational skills with an attention to detail.
- Have an ability to interpret and present behaviour data to inform decision making
- Have the confidence and experience to work with challenging behaviour, maintaining the ability to remain calm, patient and supportive in challenging situations.
- Be passionate about supporting young people’s Mental Health
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Be IT literate, with experience working with MS Office Suite and Databases
- Have a willingness to work as part of the Behaviour Support Team and to be flexible according to the needs of students
- Have a calm and professional presence in challenging situations
