Working Pattern: Monday to Thursday - 08:00am - 04:00pm, Friday - 08:00am - 03:30pm

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Braunstone Community Primary School for an individual to join our behaviour and relationship team as a behaviour mentor. Your role will involve leading pastoral interventions in order to support our children’s social, emotional and mental health needs, emotional literacy and social interaction. You will also be led by our phase leads to ensure behaviour is well supported within the classroom and vital links between home and the school are maintained. As one of our mentors, you will develop your own timetable to work flexibly in supporting the well-being of our young people and encourage them to be reflective and responsible.

Key Responsibilities

  • To undertake midday supervision duties.
  • To provide toileting support to pupils as necessary.
  • To lead an extra-curricular activity under the direction of the school but with limited direct supervision.
  • To escort and supervise pupils on educational visits and out of school activities, ensuring their health, safety and well-being.
  • To contribute to assessing and developing plans to meet the personal support needs of children and young people with additional requirements and assist in the implementation and evaluation of the plans.
  • To monitor behaviour and attendance trends, to identify any patterns of absence and lateness and work with colleagues and parents to seek ways of helping the pupil to attend school more regularly.

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications:

  • NVQ 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent OR
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to meet the STL Level 3 National Occupational Standards relevant to this post.
  • Level 2 qualifications in maths/numeracy and English/literacy OR
  • Able to demonstrate competency in literacy and numeracy equivalent to level 2.
  • Proficient with Teams and other standard IT systems/software

Experience:

  • Experience of supporting teaching and learning in a formal setting.
  • Supporting learning within the Early Years Foundation Stage &/or Key Stage 1 or 2
  • Have experience of working with children with medical needs.
  • Experience of working with SEN children

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of child protection and health and safety procedures.
  • Knowledge and understanding the theory and practice of providing effectively for the individual needs of children
  • Ability and willingness to undertake professional development.
  • Able to develop appropriate trustful relationship with specific children.
  • Promote the school’s aims and vision positively
  • Develop good personal relationships within a team.
