Behaviour Support Officer job summary

Bradford Forster Academy, an 11-16 Church of England secondary Academy and part of the Bradford Diocesan Academies Trust (BDAT), is looking to appoint a talented, inspirational, creative, and ambitious Behaviour Support Officer. This is a fixed-term, one-year contract, 37 hours per week, term-time plus 5 days, with an actual salary of £23,451 - £25,851. The successful candidate will start on September 1, 2025.

The Behaviour Support Officer will be responsible for delivering behaviour support across the school as part of the Pastoral Team. Key duties include consistently supporting and implementing the whole school behaviour strategy, assisting with the holistic progress of individuals and small groups through emotional and behavioural support, facilitating restorative meetings, supervising detentions, and communicating with parents/carers regarding student attitudes, behaviour, and progress. The role also involves being a visible presence in the Academy, upholding high aspirations, and supporting the academy's ethos. The Academy offers a supportive working environment and opportunities for personal and professional development.

Applicants should have at least one year of experience working with similar-aged students in a school or similar setting, and experience supporting young people and families from challenging communities. Essential qualifications include 5 A*-C GCSEs (including English and Maths) or equivalent. Desirable qualifications include 2 A levels, NVQ level 3, TeamTeach or equivalent training, and First Aid at work or equivalent. The ideal candidate will have high levels of enthusiasm, energy, resilience, determination, and a commitment to the ethos and culture of Bradford Forster Academy.

All offers of appointment are subject to satisfactory references and an enhanced criminal records check via the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
