Bellevue Place SCITT; Lead Mentor (Maternity Cover 0.4FTE) job summary

Bellevue Place Education Trust has this exciting maternity cover position of a Lead Mentor across a group of twelve successful primary schools. We are driven to develop and expand our trust of schools to 24 schools in and around London. Established for ten years, BPET maintains ten schools for primary aged children; all have been judged Good or Outstanding by Ofsted. Currently, we employ over 525 staff and educate 3330 children.

The ideal person will excel in providing outstanding support to both trainees and mentors, showcasing the highest quality teaching delivery practices while also prioritising their retention, well-being, progress, and overall satisfaction. We are seeking, for this role, to develop future teachers who understand and deliver our aspirational vision across the BPET schools. This role requires a keen eye for identifying areas of development and implementing strategies to support continuous progress. Ensuring trainees are adequately prepared to attain Qualified Teacher Status is paramount. Moreover, the ideal candidate will possess exceptional interpersonal skills, fostering excellent working relationships with all stakeholders involved.

The main responsibilities for this role will include:

  • Providing high-quality phase-specific development and support to a portfolio of trainees.

  • Supporting Trainees by providing continual guidance, advice in overcoming challenges and developing into effective primary school educators.

  • Assisting trainees in comprehending curriculum frameworks, crafting impactful lesson plans, and seamlessly integrating curriculum standards into their teaching methodologies.

  • Fostering supportive atmospheres by facilitating peer learning opportunities, encouraging group discussions, and fostering collaborative projects to enrich trainees' experiences.

  • Delivering a series of core and foundation subject online and in-person sessions.

  • Monitoring Progress by conducting assessments, evaluating portfolios, and delivering regular updates to program coordinators to ensure trainees' progress aligns with program objectives.

  • Supporting mentors with effective observations of trainees teaching with feedback and instructional coaching) and helping them to support their trainees develop classroom practices.

  • Working with mentors to ensure trainees meet core requirements for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Attending Lead Mentor induction and training across the course.
