Breakfast Club Assistant job summary

We are looking to appoint positive, kind, caring and inclusive a Breakfast Club Assistant that are nurturing and love working with children, to join our newly formed Breakfast Club team and help create a safe welcoming place for our early-rising pupils.

We expect the appointee to value every child and believe that every child matters.

We are looking for people that can commit to five mornings per week, Monday to Friday.

The hours each day would be 7.30am – 10 term time only.

No experience is necessary as full training and supervision will be given.


 Duties will include:


  • Welcoming children every morning
  • Supervising breakfast club activities both indoors and outdoors
  • Assisting and organising food provision and preparation for the children
  • Assisting children and encouraging healthy eating habits
  • Promoting the school’s values
  • Administering basic first aid
  • Communicating with parents and school staff to ensure key messages are shared
  • Cleaning and stacking tables and chairs
  • Maintaining food stock levels
  • Preparing the bagels for the next day


Successful applicants will:


  • Promote positivity and understand that every child, no matter their area of need, should be included and supported
  • Have good communication skills and able to communicate with children and adults, both verbally and in written form
  • Have positive behaviour management skills, following school policy at all times
  • Understand and promote safeguarding in schools and always ensure confidentiality
  • Be reliable, well organised, professional and trustworthy
  • Have experience in Food Safety (not essential)
  • Understand the importance of Health and Safety


Start Date: ASAP


Contract type: Permanent, part time – term time only, 2.5 hours per day, five days a week.


Salary: NJC grade 3 – FTE £20,812-£21,189
