What skills and experience we're looking for
The Board of Directors of The Rainbow Multi Academy Trust are looking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic BSL Teaching Assistant to support pupils’ learning at St Michael’s CofE School.
As the successful candidate, you will have a nurturing demeanour and be fully committed to promoting the needs and welfare of all children. You will play a vital role in supporting a Deaf pupil’s access to learning, social interaction, and emotional development through the use of British Sign Language, both in the classroom and across wider school life.
You will hold BSL Level 2 or above and work with pupils from Year 1 to Year 6, supporting their learning across the curriculum and helping them to thrive both academically and socially. You will also use tools such as Shape Coding, Widget symbols, and other specialist software to support communication and understanding, helping to create accessible and engaging learning experiences tailored to individual needs.
It is essential that you can support the Christian ethos of the school and promote St Michael’s values within the school and wider community. You will also support other members of the BSL team and contribute to whole-school assemblies and performances. Building strong, trusting relationships and working closely with staff, families, and external professionals will be a priority to create a safe and inclusive learning environment.
St Michaels CofE is part of The Rainbow Multi Academy Trust where our schools work in partnership to fulfil our belief that together, we can build a brighter future for our children. We are looking for a new member of staff to embrace and support our schools in creating an environment where the children have the opportunity to be the best they can be.
